Cast Iron Pizza
INGREDIENTS
- 1 Pizza Crust (we used a Pillsbury Pizza Crust)
- Your favourite pizza sauce & toppings (there is no wrong answer here – make it your own)
- We used Unger Meats Pizza Pepperoni and Unger Meats Ground Bacon
- Pizza sauce of choice
- Onions, chopped fine
- Red Peppers, chopped fine (some strips for topping)
- Bothwell Three Cheese Blend
- Prairie Oils & Provisions Pizzaiolo Olive Oil
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat grill to 400 F.
- Place the cast iron pan in the grill and allow it to preheat (Important step!)
- Par cook the Ground Bacon.
- Once the cast iron has preheated, add some Olive Oil, enough to fully cover the pan. Close the grill cover and allow it to heat up a bit more (this way the dough does not absorb all the oil).
- Place the pizza crust into the hot cast iron moving around the dough until there are no air bubbles left underneath and the dough is evenly spread around the pan.
- Place on the grill and par cook the crust for about 5 mins.
- Remove from the grill and flip the crust upside down onto a cutting board (cooked side is now facing up and this is where you will place the toppings).
- Add more Olive Oil to the hot cast iron pan.
- Place the par baked crust back into the cast iron (par baked side up) and top with pizza sauce and all your favourite toppings.
- Transfer the cast iron back to the grill and cook until the topping is bubbly and the crust is fully cooked. Ours took about 20 mins.
